Test For Posting Documents
Teacher: Evan Kendall
This is here as a temporary place to show how to post a document for PUBLIC ACCESS in Moodle.

Moodle allows for the instructor to set up the course so it has Guest Access where guests are anyone from the general public.

Please note that it is possible to restrict access to users with an account, which, technically speaking, anyone from the general public can set up, but then there is an email account and on record.

Further, it is possible to restrict access to users who have an account and a special enrollment key.  This is the best method for most teachers.  There is only a problem if the enrollment key gets out to the general public, but even then, it is quite easy to recover security by unenrolling the undesired members who got in, and then changing the enrollment key.  Legitimate users will still be able to access it and only those who got kicked out and those who try to get in anew will be affected.

There is also the ability for the instructor or administrator to set up accounts for known users and prevent anybody else from ever accessing the site.  This is the most secure method.

None of these is particularly hard to set up and each course/workspace can have different settings.

Further, within each course, it is possible to set up groups which have different levels of access.  So even among twenty users in the same course, some can have access to hidden things.

Any questions?  Evan Kendall (kendalew) from the English/ESL department is willing to help.
